About Redstone, Colorado

Welcome to the Ruby of the Rockies

Need Directions?

We understand! Redstone is a tiny community tucked away in the Elk Mountains.

Our Story

In a remote corner of Pitkin County, you’ll find the Ruby of the Rockies.

You will be immediately surrounded by towering rugged red cliffs and pristine forest. Then you’ll discover a tiny community gracing the banks of the free-flowing Crystal River. It was once home to hard-working, tough miners from a century ago until the 1980’s and is now part of the National Register of Historic Places.

Our secrets are often kept in plain sight. Take the time to slow down and enjoy.

A walk through town is a historical tour through Colorado’s only planned mining community. Wonder, as you look up at the clock tower, what it would be like to be a miner living in the Historic Redstone Inn. Pretend to be the coal baron of Redstone, John Osgood, living in opulence at the Redstone Castle. Let your adventurous spirit lead you through the national forest and wilderness. Creativity and inspiring art are all around you in our shops and public spaces.
